About Dr. Kiely

Julia is a licensed clinical psychologist in New York State, having earned both her masters and doctoral degrees from the New School for Social Research in New York City. With over 10 years of experience in a variety of settings, she has had the privilege of working with clients from diverse backgrounds who present with a wide range of challenges. She specializes in supporting young adults and adults who feel overwhelmed, stuck, and lost, struggle with anxiety and depression, have suffered losses, and/or have a history of trauma. She has particular expertise working with college and university students, including graduate students and students in the health professions.

She firmly believes in the power of deep listening, empathy, and interpersonal connection. Julia’s approach is client-centered, trauma-informed, culturally sensitive, and she tailors her approach to the unique needs of each individual. After building rapport and getting a deeper understanding of each client, she works collaboratively to identify and set goals for treatment.

Healing is not a solitary endeavor; having someone to walk alongside you can make all the difference. Clients can expect to deepen their understanding of their challenges and distress, uncovering the causes behind their feelings and discovering how to make meaningful change. This insight-building process occurs within a therapeutic relationship characterized by empathy and compassion, where your experiences are acknowledged and validated. She will also integrate practical skills when therapeutically relevant to support your growth and resilience.

Julia is committed to creating an inclusive environment and has a strong background in working with LGBTQ individuals.
